Paper 1 - Living with the physical environment
This paper looks at the dynamic nature of physical processes and systems along with the human interactions that occur in a variety of places and at a range of scales.
This paper aims to develop an understanding of the tectonic, geomorphological, biological and meteorological processes and the associated features in different environments. This paper also looks at the need for sustainable management strategies and the direct and indirect effects of human interaction with the Earth and the atmosphere.

Paper 2 - Challenges in the human environment
This paper looks at human processes, systems and outcomes and how these change both spatially and temporally. A variety of places at a range of scales as well as stages of development will be studied.
The paper aims to develop an understanding of the factors that produce a diverse variety of human environments; the dynamic nature of these environments that change over time and place and the need for sustainable management. In addition this paper investigates current and future challenges and opportunities for these environments

Paper 3 - Geographical Applications
This paper is designed to be synoptic and will require drawing together of knowledge, understanding and skills from the full course of study. It is an opportunity to show breadth of understanding and an evaluative appreciation of the interrelationships between different aspects of geographical study.
